The Schwarzkopf Pro European Essential Looks Show 17
As a young Industry leader, I was chosen as 1 of 7 stylists from Europe to work with the Schwarzkopf Professionals Artistic team. The team helped create the looks for The Schwarzkopf Pro European Essential Looks Show in London 2017 Led by the brands own Global Ambassador Tyler Johnston represented by One Represents.
A very inspirational day for me to work alongside Tyler Johnston for third time . Tyler’s consistently produces exceptional work and continues to do so.
In the competitive world of hairdressing and high fashion, Tyler Johnston cuts a unique swathe, combining technique, street-based attitude and adventurous creativity in an unequalled manner. His work is immediately recognisable from the pages of many of the world’s most feted international glossy magazines, as are his much-talked-about haircuts (& styling) for private clients including David and Victoria Beckham, Cate Blanchett, Keira Knightley and Kate Beckinsale.
Tyler’s expertise is in creating strong styles that fuse both the refined beauty of cutting-edge fashion editorial with the edginess and suss of the contemporary scene beyond the catwalk or studio. His adventurous approach, approachable manner and technical expertise have seen him establish himself as one of the industry’s most sought-after session stylists. The combination of influences that Tyler brings to his craft are truly individual.
Beginning as a stylist at Vidal Sassoon in the creative hotbed of Eighties Manchester, Tyler progressed rapidly up the ladder at Sassoon, culminating in a move to London where he became Art Director at the prestigious Knightsbridge salon. Tyler spent six years in this high-profile position, working on Sassoon’s seasonal collections and TV commercials, before finally leaving to pursue an adventurous freelance path. His work was soon gracing the pages of magazines from Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ to more edgy titles like Pop, i-D and 10 Magazine. Fashion photography names including Steven Klein, Patrick Demarchelier, Alasdair McLellan and David Bailey all turned to Tyler for directional editorial assignments.
For the past decade Tyler has consulted for many of the world’s leading beauty brands. He has revitalised brand images, spearheaded new product development, pioneered educational programs and produced influential seasonal trend reports. Tyler also has found time to be in the thick of it backstage at the four big international fashion weeks, equally at home in the chaotic buzz of smaller London shows such as Camilla Staerk or the super trouper Milano glitz of John Richmond et al. It is Tyler’s willingness to take on a real spectrum of creative challenges that he believes keep him evolving and also learning. It’s an approach that surely explains why he is now well-established as an important talent in the hairdressing world with work spanning the breadth of editorial and advertising creativity.

Fendi | Haute Couture Fall-Winter PFW
Working with Sam McKnight in Paris was another incredible experience in my career.
The option to work with Sam Mcknight presented it very late in the day. I then had to change my plans last minute knowing that this option doesn’t come by very often.I thoroughly enjoyed the day it was intense and a steap learning curve when it comes to patience and working fast coupled with discipline. I still carry that experience with me on every job. The creative director of Fendi at the time was no other than Karl Lagerfeld a legend in the fashion industry a true perfectionist in his craft so the hair had to equally as well put together..
A celebrated high-fashion session hair stylist, Sam McKnight boasts a celebrated career spanning over four decades encompassing catwalks, editorials and advertising campaigns for an extensive list of clients. Chanel, Fendi, Balmain, Burberry and Tom Ford are just a few of the top fashion houses McKnight regularly works with. He is regular contributor to Vogue (internationally), W, Dazed & Confused, Harper’s Bazaar, i-D, Love & Numéro magazines.
Sam has worked alongside prominent photographers Patrick Demarchelier , Mario Testino and Nick Knight . A long-time stylist for the late Princess Diana, McKnight created her iconic short, slicked back hairstyle in the 1990 Patrick Demarchelier shoot for Vogue, and became her personal hair stylist for seven years.
Credited as the original “session stylist” McKnight initially trained as a teacher before working as an assistant at a local hairdressers in his native Scotland. Moving to London in the early 1970’s, McKnight secured a position at Molton Brown. He worked on projects for London based magazine 19 and Honey before landing his first editorial shoot with Vogue in 1977. Moving to New York in the early 1980s, McKnight secured representation with leading agency Bryan Bantry and was introduced to stylists Liz Tilberis and Lucinda Chambers who were instrumental in hiring him for work on high profile editorial shoots.

This chance to work for Puma Cedella Marley and the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt came as I surprise I delayed my trip to Australia for a year just to be in London for 2012 games. I was very fortunate to have such an exciting job opportunity.I went all out with my preparation I ordered metallic gold paint from mehron which was then applied on each model in the runway show as a stand out symbolic feature for the media to focus on.
Jason Marley was also present and asked me if I also like to model in the show I replied yes I’d love to but I must finish the hair to the best of my ability first.
A day I will never forget being pushed to your absolute creative limit can to very stressful but being pushed by successful peers people who you admire greatly was a very fun and extremely for filling
Usain St Leo Bolt
Arguably the most naturally gifted athlete the world has ever seen, Usain St Leo Bolt, created history at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio when he achieved the ‘Triple Triple’, three gold medals at three consecutive Olympic Games. Usain’s journey to worldwide stardom started at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing where he won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m, all in world record times. He followed this up with three gold medals in the same events at the 2012 Olympic Games in London to write his name in the history books as the world’s fastest man. Then one day before his 30th birthday he completed the same triple at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio to cement his legacy as a legend in world sport.
Arena homme Magazine Editorial By David Sims
I couldn’t have wished for a better opportunity at a better time after returning from Paris working with Eugene Souleiman and Sam Mcknight I was asked to work on a photo shoot with David Sim.
Mr.Sims a remarkable talent and highly respected within the industry.
I was lucky enough to meet him early on that year as a client while working at Huckle The Barber in Holburn. He was In need of a haircut and a beard trim so we had a long and insightful conversation that made me feel very inspired to continue to push on even more to surpass my current goals and to make all the necessary sacrifices needed to reach my full potential.
Acclaimed fashion photographer David Sims was initially known for the stark modernism, plain backdrops and the graphic posing in his work. In later years he would begin to capture movement in his photographs. American Vogue remarked that Sims’ work was “setting a new standard” for fashion photography.
Sims over the years has contributed to the most influential fashion publications in the world, including US and French Vogue, W magazine, The Face, i-D, L’Uomo Vogue, Arena Homme Plus, Vogue Homme International and Dazed & Confused. The photographer signed an exclusive retainer with US Harper’s Bazaar for 2000 and 2001. His numerous commercial clients represent fashion’s biggest players: Prada, Givenchy, Valentino, Stella McCartney , Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton and Alexander Wang , among many more.
Sims began his editorial career in 1985 shooting for i-D, having assisted photographers Robert Erdmann and Norman Watson when he left school. Sims’ commercial break came when he was called upon to shoot Calvin Klein and CK’s 1993 campaigns featuring Kate Moss . Calvin Klein sought a more modern aesthetic to suit his minimalist designs.
A second globally recognised campaign, for Yohji Yamamoto in 1995, would cement Sims’ reputation and lead to him being named Photographer of the Year in 1996 at the International Festival of Photography, beating Craig McDean , Steven Meisel , Juergen Teller and David LaChapelle. That same year he would shoot his first cover, for i-D, again featuring Kate Moss.
